Tiverton continued their winning ways this weekend after beating Chardstock by 4 wickets.
Parr’s side carried a lot of confidents into the game after beating Feniton by 7 wickets in the first round of the Corinthians cup last Wednesday night.
Tivvy winning the toss & after overnight rain put Chardstock into bat.
After some tight bowling in the first 10 overs by Rendall & Jason Parr this restricted Chardstock to just 28.
Openers Churchill & Strawbridge were solid at the crease & it wasn’t until the 17th over that Jerry Reed got the breakthrough of Churchill for 35. Shortly to follow Strawbridge fell to some great aggressive bowling of Dane Williams.
Into the Crease stepped Chardstocks run machine’s Rob Hutchings & L Larcombe with the score at 72/2. Chardstock in a strong position.
23 Overs fell & drinks came, Skipper Brendon Parr back to full fitness turned to himself with the ball, with his 2nd ball removing the dangerous Rob Hutchings caught at slip by Pearce for just 18.
Parr’s 2nd over picking up another 2 wickets removing Chardstock’s middle order.
Parr bowled his 9 overs straight through picking up 4 wickets for just 16 runs.
Chardstocks innings started to tumble, Rendall & Jason Parr picking up a wicket a piece as Chardstock finished on 156/9.
Tivvy in reply were missing a couple of batsman this week, The Reed brothers returned to the top of the innings, a solid start at 28/1 Tim Reed caught at Cully for 12.
Brendon Parr into the crease at 3, lots of work needed to be done on a tough wicket.
Jerry Reed & Parr built a partnership of 48 after Reed was trapped LBW for 29.
Older brother Jason next to the crease, he started positive with a couple of quick fire boundaries before skying a ball for 9.
Chardstocks S Reynolds was the man in the wickets.
Alex Dixon, Mike Lowman & Dane Williams fell for just 4 runs between them as Tiverton’s Middle order failed.
Skipper Parr still looked on positively at the other end with the score at 100/6 & still needing 56 runs for victory.
Darren Pearce came to join Parr at the crease. Pearce took off from the start with some big blows playing his nature game.
Chardstocks heads started to drop as Pearce quickly took the game away from them.
Parr & Pearce taking the side over the line at 159/6. A quick fire 42* from Pearce & a mature 49* from the skipper.
A great performance all round as Tivvy look on to Honiton next week.
